My Son's First Day at High School

My son and his friends had always been able to walk to school, whether it was elementary school or junior high school because we lived in a centrally located area. However, the high school was a fair distance from our home. Because none of my son's friends nor himself had a drivers license or car, it was necessary, in order to get to school, to take the bus. On the first day of school, my son and his friends walked to the bus stop and waited. The bus came and picked them up and delivered them to the high school. My son had made the high school football team, so after school, he went to practice. I knew he was going to need me to come by to pick him up and take him home after practice. So when he called, I was ready to go pick him up. When I arrived, one of his friends was with him, but he wasn't practicing with the football team. He was just waiting for my son. So I asked my son's friend why he hadn't taken the bus home after school? He said to me, "Oh, they take you home too?". |
